I have entered the UFO contest!

I have entered the Pattern Review UFO (Unfinished Object) contest! I usually don't leave a lot of UFO sewing projects. I prefer getting projects finished. However, this last April I created this horrid horrid UFO:

I was 'traumatized' by this Fail that I decided to leave it unfinished and moved on to other more satisfying projects. But this thing is still hanging in my sewing room taunting me about my Fail! :-) So I decided to use the UFO contest to motivate myself to correct this Fail and finish the jacket somehow. Hopefully this process will not be too painful and I will learn something from it. Now I need to figure out: how do I salvage this monstrosity?

Do you have lots of sewing UFOs in your stash?

  1. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with! And yes, I have a lot of UFOs in my bags and bags of clothing that I bought, thinking I would alter them. But I'm determined to declutter again in 2017, and hopefully I'll make a decision on many of them - either do something to make them wearable or get rid of them!

    1. Thanks Jenny! I will have to get really creative with this. Hopefully it will turn out okay. I'm not even expecting it to be great - just okay.

  2. If your start from the point that this can't get worse, then you might find a really interesting way to lift this jacket into something that works nicely. At the very least, it might be a good creative exercise.

    1. Thanks Sarah Liz! That was exactly what I was thinking. It can't get any worse. It has to get better somehow!

  3. How about using it as a lining for the "right" jacket?

  4. Thanks Natalia! Unfortunately, the fashion fabric I used is a wool blend twill that would not work well as a lining. If it was a plain cotton it could be possible.
