Stash Fabric Busting self-challenge - 1 Clear Bin at a time!

The MAGAM April theme or using one of my oldest fabric stash has given me an idea for my new self-challenge. I have lots of clear bin/boxes that house various stash fabrics. I will choose 1 bin each month and create garments/accessories with whatever fabric is in that bin. I think this will really help me destash in a quicker and more systematic way. I'm sure I will get much satisfaction in seeing the bins being emptied one by one. It will force me to sew more creatively (constrained by whatever fabric is in the box) and sew more for others as well.

As soon as I finished slogging away at the Chanel-esque jacket, I will choose a box of fabrics and get on with my self-challenge!

  1. What a great idea - I should do something like this as well. Sorry it I have missed any of your posts, my computer died, and the new one is needing more work, so I will be on and off with the internet for a while. I'm doing a boxy jacket, sort of Chanel shape for April as well :)

    1. Thanks Sarah Liz! Technology can be such a pain sometimes, don't you think? I'm working hard on my Chanel-esque jacket. There is a lot more hand stitching than I'm used to. Can't wait to get it done!

  2. What a good idea; you are a good inspiration for me as well. I have so many things to refashion I find it hard to start. I should just do it by container. Good luck with your self challenge.

    1. Thanks Jenny! I just want to visually see the fabric stash being used up. I have been using the fabrics in my stash closet but I think seeing the bins being cleared away will be more satisfying!

  4. I think this is a great idea too! Look forward to seeing the creative ways this will work for you. Sometimes the best garments are made from a creative challenge.
