The June MAGAM pink silk noil dress is done! It was quick and easy to do. However, to be honest, I'm not in love with it. I know from the pattern envelope that it's supposed to be very loose but I think it's too loose on me and make me look bigger than I actually am. I tried wearing a belt with it but it was worse.
I need to salvage this dress somehow. What do you think? Should I narrow the dress a bit from the side seams? Should I turn it into a top?
I think it turned out nice, and looks good on you. Maybe if you put it aside for a week and revisit it, pair it with a cute little scarf. Its an adorable summer dress.
ReplyDeleteThanks! it actually is much looser in reality than in the photo. I'll take your advice and leave it now and look at it again tomorrow!
DeleteI think it is nice as well - for a hot day this will be beautiful. But you are the one that is wearing it, and maybe you prefer other lines. Do look at it with fresh eyes again after a day or so - sometimes we just need to adjust our perceptions. And for most clothes, stick with lines that work for you - but this may well be one of those dresses you will be glad you had in hot weather or when you need a pink vitamin :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah Liz! I think this pattern can still work on me if the fabric is more drapey, e.g. chiffon. This silk noil is still too stiff for a pattern like this I think.
