X'mas decor continues.....

I continue too make decorations for our x'mas tree. I have used up almost all the beading wire:

I guess I need to make some stuffed ornaments now! Or should I go buy some beading wire?

DIY Holiday decorations

I started making fabric and beaded holiday decorations for our x'mas tree. If I make 1 a day there should be about 20 new ornaments for the tree. The kids had also drew things on paper for me to make into stuffed 'whatever'. My daughter drew a cloud and asked me to make it into a stuffed cloud. My son drew a puppy's head and asked me to make it into a stuffed puppy head.

Beige loafer shoe Refashion

I have always admired bloggers who are brave enough to dye their shoes or add all sorts of embellishments on them. Since I'm new to shoe refashioning, I thought I would just try a very simple one for now.

I thrifted these almost new beige loafers for a great price. They are very comfortable but just really boring looking:

I also thrifted these medallions from the thrift store. They are quite heavy and seemed to have been components of a bracelet but someone has taken them apart already:

I just glued them onto the loafers with 'No More Nails' adhesive. I hope they will stay because the medallions are heavy and they can be flung off if I run in these shoes.

My first shoe refashion! Yay! So, what do you think? Is the embellishment too ornate for such a casual shoe?

New Year Sewing/Craft resolution

I want to make a craft resolution for myself this year. I know it's going to be a busy year with the new baby coming in April. But I want to make sure that I make time for myself, as well as being mom to 2 kids under 3, wife, homemaker, chaufeur, financial planner, social planner, etc etc. Sewing/crafting seems to provide the instant gratification that I can accommodate right now. I mean, I love home decor, refinishing furniture, jewellery making, etc etc as well, but they just take up too much time and space in the house. Sewing/crafting for my family not only gives me joy and relaxation, but seeing them being enjoyed by my family is even more gratifying!

I plan to make at least 1 gift for each family member this year (for birthdays and/or X'mas) with my existing fabric/craft supplies stash. I think I need to start planning now.
