I've been scratching my head to figure out what to do for the MAGAM (Make A Garment A Month) December project. The theme is 'December Dates'. Obviously December is a month of celebrations for many people. I have already made too many special occasions garments and didn't have enough occasions to wear them! So I am thinking instead of making something NEW from scratch, how about refashioning/upcycling one of the old special occasion garments?
I blogged about this 3 Simplicity 4877 knit dresses in 2012 (see here). I wore the red long dress 3 times, the sparkly floral long dress once and the brown matte jersey short dress twice. They are all super comfortable and easy to care for. I want to refashion at least one of them into something else (if I have enough time I would like to refashion more than 1!). Which one do you think I should tackle?
Maybe the sparkly floral, since you've worn it the least? I'd love to see what you might do with it! All three dresses look stunning on you, by the way. This is a fantastic style for you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenny! The reason I only wore the sparkly floral dress once is because I thought I looked a bit like 'the mother of the groom' in that dress. Also, the earthy colours are not the most flattering for my skin tone.
DeleteI love the red - very festive and the colour suits you. Maybe choose that one. The middle dress in earth colours may work if made into a skirt, if you can find a top that works with it and your skin tone.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah Liz for your suggestion. Now that I have thought about it more, I think I may just donate the sparkly earthy colour dress since it doesn't suit my complexion anyway. I can then concentrate on refashioning ideas for the other 2 dresses.
